The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Teaser Debuts, Unveiling New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voices

Nintendo alongside Illumination shared the debut comprehensive teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday. It was showcased in a Nintendo-focused broadcast that focused exclusively on the forthcoming animated feature.

The follow-up to the 2023 blockbuster The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will propel Mario to the outer limits of the universe. Along the way, he discovers a different royal figure and a formidable new rival in Bowser Jr., the heir to Bowser's throne.

A Space-Faring Quest Based on Beloved Titles

Much like the Wii-era games that serve as its inspiration, Mario will depart from the well-known surroundings of the Mushroom Kingdom to travel across the galaxy. During his grand adventure, he will reunite with some familiar faces, for instance the Luma, a breakout star from the original cinematic release.

But it appears Mario and his brother Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's irate young son, who seemingly commands metallic abilities. Worth mentioning, the teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not solely focused on Galaxy-themed scenes; it also includes nods to additional popular titles like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.

All-Star Vocal Ensemble Returns and Expands

The feature will welcome back of the original voice cast, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

Joining the cast for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to represent Bowser Jr. The casting was verified by Chris Meledandri, the chief executive of Illumination.

Mario's Major Moment

The new Mario movie is planned to debut near the four-decade milestone of the initial Super Mario Bros. release. Beyond the film, 2026 looks set to be a important time for Mario and his allies.

Nintendo has a trio of new releases officially announced for 2026, featuring Mario Tennis Fever, a release on Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a latest Yoshi adventure game titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

Release Date Confirmed

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is scheduled to hit theaters on April 3, 2026.
