These last 48 hours have been incredibly eventful. This past Monday, we celebrated the half-decade milestone of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X with a competition to decide the top exclusive title of this console generation. You were given eight PlayStation 5 titles and eight Xbox Series X exclusives to compete against each other, culminating in a championship round where the top game from each console would go head-to-head. There have been some incredibly close calls in the first two rounds, particularly yesterday’s razor-thin votes. At this point, it's time to crown the leading PlayStation and Xbox titles ahead of Thursday’s final battle.

The PS5 Side

For PlayStation 5, we have the giant-slayer, Astro Bot. Maybe it should be no surprise considering that it took home the top prize at the previous year's gaming accolades, but its win against God of War Ragnarök seems like a major shock. But to get to the finals, it'll have to go through the most valuable player of the PS5 generation: Insomniac Games. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 had a smooth path to the semi-finals, defeating Ghost of Yōtei and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart (another Insomniac game!) to land in the semi-finals. Can Spidey topple a home-grown Sony mascot, or is he fated to become a chibi cameo in the upcoming Astro Bot title?

Xbox Series X Contenders

For Xbox Series X has been even juicier. Emerging victorious from a more eclectic field of contenders is Forza Horizon 5. It's a big victory for the racing adventure title so far, proving that a more specialized genre game deserves to be on the same pedestal as classic platformers and cinematic action-adventure games. Its final obstacle en route to the championship is a big one, though. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle has proven to be a crowd favorite, beating acclaimed titles like Pentiment and Hi-Fi Rush. Will it overcome a much bigger game from an established IP that's synonymous with Xbox itself? Should anyone manage this feat, it's likely Indiana Jones.
